Tyguy80s's News

Hello again. For those who happen to follow the YouTube channel, you may've noticed that I haven't posted the typically daily music writing fun time episodes for a couple days. Nothing bad happened, I simply wasn't very inspired by the ideas I wasn writing down. Still pretty musically active, and I want to keep writing, but it seems I was running my brain into writer's block continuously.

I took a couple days off, while I pondered what to write about. After all, I did write a solo viola project and a piano etude, and haven't really taken a break from songwriting since I start about 7 or so months ago. I still have my plans for what's to come, just that I need to consider what I want to write for and about. Musically speaking, I've been absorbed by the clarinet and bass clarinet and reeding (reed pun) all about the instrument and studying it's repetoire. Looking up different mouthpieces, exploring the Backun Products website, looking up what clarinet I'd like to buy, things of that nature.

In short, practicing and a lack of inspiration and direction in my songwriting. I'm sure right after this blog, I just might have a songwriting idea that'll hit me harder than oncoming traffic. Anyways, thanks for reading. I'll get back to work :)

So happy to say that the move's over and that I released the "Romances For Viola" album now. Quite elated that one of my works finally hit the frontpage too, that was a crowning achievement for me and makes me feel all bubbly. So, the next few songs will probably be smaller and simpler, just a good 'ol piano etude and maybe a tenor sax and guitar jazz song or two. After those refresher pieces, the next big thing will either be a string quartet, string orchestra piece, or humoresqes for clarinet perhaps. Perhaps I'll finally go about the Frog Suite For Double Reeds soon enough.

The reason for the viola project was to snowball some practice on string scoring, one of two skills I desperately needed to work on. The idea would be to take a break from the woodwinds after Mother's Journey Concerto and develop my string scoring and part-writing skills by first working on a string solo piece to get the hang of slurring and bow markings. Now, the next thing is to work on part writing and really get a hang for that. From there, it's just writing to my heart's content.

The blog posts will cooldown for some time too now that the move's over and that there's no need to constantly update y'all on this page.

I have to help my family members move houses for the next couple days. I'll try my best to jot concepts here and there but really I won't be sitting down for any creative and inspired writing sessions for the duration of the move I'm almost certain. Watch this episode to see where I'm at so far in regards to the finale of my viola project. Thanks for reading. You should check out my YouTube channel, I update more frequently there.

Will upload this to Newgrounds at a busier time when this will get views. Very close to finishing the viola project. Just the finale left, some variations on La folia and the collection will be a nice bon-bon and show-opener piece/EP. Thanks for reading.

Latest installment once again! A sonata in C# minor for unaccompanied viola. So from here, I've got one or two songs at least I want to add before doing a take on La Folia variations to wrap up the project. The goal's to add to neat viola repertoire out there and to have another 20ish min work in my book. After this project, I'll simply be doing some clarinet humoresqes. In the meantime, I'll keep thinking about this project. If not already, please follow my YouTube for more constant updates on my projects. Thanks for reading.

So, I have here the latest song for the Romances For Viola project. I'll rearrange it for violin and move on to the next song soon. Also, I hope I'm not dissappointing, but I've had to decline the recording gig. It just accured to me that I've only been learning clarinet for six months and the instrument I have, an Evette student model clarinet, is not something you record an EP on, especially if you're a beginner like I am. I feel like an ass to agreeing to something I wasn't ready for, that was insensitive of me.

Alas, I'll keep practicing and chipping away at this project. I'll talk more about the project in the next episode of Bike Riding Vlogs. Anyways, that's all I got for now. Toodles.

I just might be harboring peace and love through clarineting in an alternative/hip-hop EP in a few weeks. Here's the band. Dylan's a ol highschool friend and former coworker so this should be fun :)

I gained the guts to record myself playing a song on my bass clarinet.

Funny story, one of the pads fell off the instrument while I was practicing today so now I have to turn it in for repair. Fortunately, the rental company I got the bass clarinet from happily does maintenance and repairs; I'll be practicing on a soprano clarinet like a proper Squidward should. Thanks for reading. As far as actual progress in my songwriting, here's the latest episode of Music-Writing Fun Time to elaborate on where I'm at.
