Beginning Work on a True Symphony

Posted by Tyguy80s - August 26th, 2017

So, I'm truly going for it. Toying around with the idea of writing an epic orchestral score for a while, but now with 32 published works, including nine orchestra pieces and five harp solos, I think I have enough original source material to create a wholesome symphony. It'll be a smaller symphony that's about 30mins. long, To make it a symphony... well... I'll provide a tracklist first then elaborate upon that.

Setlist

  1. Blissful Venture
  2. Liam's Lullaby
  3. Triumph in E Major
  4. Using Journey Through a New World, I want an interlude that prepares the listener for a key change
  5. You Will Prevail
  6. Finale being Symphony Allegro

So far that's twenty minutes and fourteen seconds of music. To make it into symphony form, I'll add an opening, then transition phrases between songs. That'd extend the music to at least twenty-five minutes. Add some orchestral ornamentation to the harp songs would help; I might need to write one more song, not sure if it should be an all new song or if it'd be an orchestrated version of "Thinking About" perhaps.

I'll definitely need to re-work some of the music, proofreed and ensure quality with my gained experience. Making sure the sheetmusic/notation is accurate too. That's my grand idea, and I could probably submit it to the few local orchestras in this tri-county area. Even if they don't accept the work, I created something that I could be proud of and isn't that just great too? This'll be the next project I'm working on. If any new songs finish, I'll publish them here. I'll publish the symphony in full too here as well.

Making money isn't the goal, but that'd be nice. Maybe submitting the work will prove folly, and that's fine. I'll be happy in just creating this work even if no one enjoys it. Being proud in being imaginative and creating art is a great outlet that . Most of all, it'll be fun and rewarding for me. Thanks for reading.
